LANGTRY, Lillie (popular name of Emilie Charlotte Langtry, née Le Breton, nickname the Jersey Lily (1853-1929) One of the most noted beauties of her time, she married Edward Langtry in 1874, and was the first society woman to appear on stage. Her beauty brought her to the attention of the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, and she became his mistress. Rare photograph of Langtry, 3-1/2”x5-1/2”, c. 1890’s, in ornate dress, some surface cracks, else VG, framed with her signature “Lillie Langtry” on 3-1/2”x2-1/2” card. VG. A nice set.
