October 14, 1891-Dated, Imprint entitled, UNVEILING OF THE MONUMENT TO RED JACKET, Conoga (NY), Waterloo Library and Historical Society, Very Fine. This is a fine narrative about Red Jacket, Published by the Society, Oct. 14, 1891., 8vo, illustrated showing full page photographs of the Indians related to Red Jacket., 60 pages, original wraps. There is a smudge at the lower portion of the frontis, the interior is very clean with no foxing. Red Jacket is immortalized in a now-famous painting by Charles Bird King. In this historical painting, Red Jacket is depicted with a large, Silver Indian Peace Medal that was given to him in 1792 by President George Washington during a diplomatic visit to the then U.S. capital at New York City. A historic imprint dedicated to the memory of the famous Native American Indian Red Jacket. Very scarce.
