Another slave badge with stamped “CHARLESTON, 491, Servant, 1850, 2-1/2” x 2-1/2”, diamond shaped, necklace hole punched at the top. This one as the diggers note “1850 Servant tag #491 dug along hwy 52 going to Monks Corner near Wappolla Plantation.” Wappaoola Plantation was built in 1806. Wappaoola’s meaning "sweet water" in the Indian language, takes its name from the nearby creek that made it a rich rice plantation.
