Autograph Letter by Joshua Chadbourne, one page, 4to, Baldwin, Maine, March 6, 1854, to Representative William M. Given, n.p., presumably Washington, reading, in part: "…The Nebraska bill has sent the wolves of federalism to howling north of Mason's and Dixon's line…now a holy love for Negroes & like the cuttlefish seek to blacken the waters to hide their own deformity…They having missed their first aim, a president and senate for life & now are remounting the old long eared animal, consolidation, but are sure to be kicked off…" Fine condition.
