titled “NEGROES For Sale,” 17” x 12,” with large and variable type sizes, March 28, 1859, Lewisburg, Tenn., even toning, very graphically appealing. A rare slave sale broadside for a sale in Lewisburg, Tennessee, a town directly south of Nashville, about half way to the Georgia border. The broadside continues: "By virtue of a decree in Chancery Court at Lewisburg at its February Term 1859, in the case of Moses Thompson et als vs Allen McDaniel et als; I will on the 4th day of April next, (being County Court day) at the Court House door in Lewisburg sell a negro woman and her two children, sold as belonging, to the estate of Francis McDaniel. Full particulars made known on the day of sale." Then, in huge type; “TERMS, said slaves will be sold on a credit of 12 months, except 35 or 40 Dollars to be paid in cash. Note with approved security required. R.K. Kercheval C. & M.” Robert K. Kercheval later enlisted as a private in the Fifty-Third Regiment, Tennessee , then captured at Fort Donelson, POW at Johnson's Island.
