Period stereoview published by Keystone, copyright 1898 by Singley and captioned identified as “Troop K, 10th U.S. Cavalry, Chickamauga Battlefield.” The photograph shows saddled horses in the foreground and five uniformed Buffalo soldiers are in the background. Likely taken at Camp George H. Thomas, which was established April 14, 1898 on the grounds of the Chickamauga-Chattanooga National Military Park. This was the assembly point for at least 6 regiments of regular cavalry who were on their way to Tampa. By mid-September, the cavalry had moved on to Tampa.
