A great partly-printed war-date Union headquarters pass, 1p. oblong 8vo., "Head Quarters Military District of Washington", Washington, D. C., Oct. 9, 1862, issued to, in full: "Dr. Nable Young & D. B. Clark having furnished satisfactory evidence of their loyalty to the Government of the United States will be permitted to pass within the Lines of the United States Forces for the purpose of recruit health. This pass will expire Oct. 31, 1862." Signed in type by Brig. Gen. James S. Wadsworth, signed and made official by Capt. Henry Clay Lockwood who was breveted for gallantry during the battle of Fort Fisher, North Carolina in January 1865. Usual folds, else VG
