In large part, “The evenings skirmishes in small numbers have approached very close to this out post - but - the main body appears to have returned ... No attack will now be made, I think, by this enemy - our forces are posted one half on Bolivan heights on the Virginia side where they are entrenching - the other half on the Maryland heights. the second large force is mounted on the Maryland heights. Heavy firing is thunder ....”
