A great war-date ca. 1863 finely printed patriotic sheet music, 3pp. large folio, entitled: "I Never Shall See My Home Again. A Touching Incident at the Battle of Fredericksburg, May 4th 1863", written and published by C. St. John, Boston, showing an armed zouave holding an American flag on the front cover which is printed entirely in red and blue ink. The lyrics, read, in small part: "A little cottage stands near by the mountain side…why did I leave my cottage home, Here on the field to die…a shout rang in his ear. Twas liberty and victory in accents loud and clear. He clung to the flag…thus said a dying youth that lay upon the ground and breathed a prayer to heaven while bleeding from his wounds…meet me in that better land where the stars shall ever wave…Oh mother do you hear. I'm calling for you now. My voice is growing feeble and cold sweat [is] on my brow…". Bound binding, minor toning, else VG
