GILLMORE, Quincy A. (1825 - 1888) Union major general who fought at Bermuda Hundred and Drewry's Bluff. He was severely injured pursuing Jubal Early in the Shenandoah Valley. He originated the famous Gillmore Medal for Bravery which was awarded to Black soldiers for the Battle of Ft. Wagner. Document Signed “Q.A. Gillmore, Maj. Gen’l Comdg” docketing an Inspection report, September 10, 1863, 16” x 12”, VG. The report is Inventory and Inspection of Clothing Camp and garrison eqipage pertaining to Company F, 3rd Regiment Rhode Island Artillery.
