An unusual war-date relic collected by Pvt. William Cobb, U. S. Signal Corps, 23rd Army Corps being an approximate 6” long yellow and gold twine cord attached to a printed letter sheet with a period pencil inscription that reads, in full: “Piece of cord that held the window curtain on the left hand side of the cabinet chamber in capital. Raleigh, N. Carolina…”. A great Civil War souvenir collected at the end of the war by a triumphant Union soldier. Very good.
