GUERNSEY, Alfred Hudson (1824-1902) was for several years editor of " Harper's Magazine," and from 1872 till 1876 was an associate editor of the "American Cyclopaedia," to which he contributed numerous articles. He has also written largely for periodicals, mainly on historical subjects, and is author, jointly with Henry M. Alden, of "Harper's Pictorial History of the Great Rebellion," Mr. Guernsey writing the eastern campaigns. Autograph Letter Signed, “Alfred H. Guernsey”, New York, April 25, 1871, 8” x 12,” 2pp., professional repaired fold breaks, VG. In part, “I have yours .. relating to my account of the Battles of Chancellorsville as published in the Galaxy for May, in which I am informed, you found several inaccuracies ... “ Guernsey continues defending four of Hooker’s Criticisms, each a battle movement. Expertly written. Lee soundly defeated Hooker at Chancellorsville.
