CDV portrait of Lieutenant Colonel George A. Custer by J.M. Mora, breast-up, uniformed with gold cord, 3-3/4” x2-1/4”, with Custer's name, in pencil, on verso, minor staining to this unusual image, 1876. This image, taken in March 1876, is reproduced in Mark Katz's custer in photographs (Gettysburg, 1985), pl. K-150V. This was custer’s penultimate session with a photographer. He left the east coast on May 3rd, and died at little bighorn on June 25th.
