A good war-date printed Northern penny song sheet, ca., 1864, 1p. 8vo., entitled: "McClellan The Pride of Jersey Blue.", published by Mason & Co., Philadelphia, reading, in part: "Arouse now Conservatives, the contest is begun, dark clouds now envelope the land of Washington…ally all the men for Geo. B. McClellan and the gallant "Penn"…give a loud hurrah for McClellan good and true, the favorite of the soldiers and pride of Jersey Blue…we've supported Lincoln through the Presidential term…but he failed so completely, to save the nations cause, that we are going to ask McClellan to put in force the laws…to Abolition and Secession their deserts he'll surely mete. For glorious Constitution and the Union let us cheer for the election of McClellan let us nobly persevere…". Advertising at the bottom of the song declares, "Now ready, McClellan Campaign Songster. Clubs and dealers can have their orders fill for…all other Campaign Songs…Mason & Co…dealers in Carte de Visite, albums, songs…medals, etc…". VG to near fine.
