Large Mounted Albuman Photograph, 8" x 6" with scalloped cut top, VG.The identification is separately mounted on the front, "President Abraham Lincoln's Funeral Train. From Washington arrived at Harrisburg 8:00 PM, April 21, 1865, left Harrisburg 12:00 Noon April 22; arrived Philadelphia 6:30 PM, scheduled time. Engine 331; Engineer J.E. Miller; Conductor Geo. Phillips." This image, of Lincoln’s Funeral Train was taken by Harrisburg photographer D. C. Burnite next to the Harrisburg Railroad Depot. Post war, c1870, yet scarce and nice image. On April 21, 1865, a train carrying the coffin of assassinated President Abraham Lincoln leaves Washington, D.C. on its way to Springfield, Illinois, where he would be buried on May 4. The train carrying Lincoln’s body traveled through 180 cities and seven states on its way to Lincoln’s home state of Illinois. Scheduled stops for the special funeral train were published in newspapers.
