Book, “WEST POINT LIFE: A POEM...ILLUSTRATED WITH PEN AND INK SKETCHES BY A CADET” ... New York, 1866, 37pp. of text printed on recto only, plus 22 plates. Oblong octavo. Original gilt cloth. Rubbed, bit frayed at head and toe of spine, hinges tender. Internally quite good. Lacks the titlepage. Second, and best, edition, by virtue of the addition of illustrations, after the first of 1859 with a slightly different title.This volume contains an odd presentation inscription: "Mrs. Annie C. Babcock With compliments of the Supposed Author." The well executed and amusing plates show cadets falling off horses, seeing phantoms while on night duty, etc.
