Bogert” 3-1/4p. octavo, on fine illustrated Lincoln stationary, October 20, 1862, addressed to a soldier , in part: “...We hear all the time you have been away from home before you was sworn in the United States service will not be reckoned i nthe nine months if that should be the case you will be ten months from home instead of nine...We felt quite alarmed when we heard you expected an attack from the enemy...I think if such a number of rebels had come into Maryland I should have seen or heard some thing about it in the newspaper...” VG.
