The large piece measures 16" X 20" overall. Has a crease at the lower left and some light damp staining, overall a great image. Most probably taken by Mathew Brady as the chair Peabody is sitting in looks like the chair Brady used for many of his sittings. George Peabody February 18, 1795 – November 4, 1869) was an American-British entrepreneur and philanthropist who founded the Peabody Trust in Britain and the Peabody Institute and George Peabody Library in Baltimore, and was responsible for many other charitable initiatives. Peabody was also considered Presidential hopeful when he was seventy two, but he considered that too old to be President.
