May 3, 1860, with Autograph Letter Signed by George Harrington, Secretary on verso addressed to H.McMullen of New York, that reads “Your name has been handed to this committee as being an active and reliable Republican. I therefore send you our circular the purposes of which are explained on its face and ask your cooperation in the coming Campaign...”. The printed circular reads in small part: “...The Republican Congressional Executive Committee appointed by the Republican members of the Senate and House of Representatives, asks your cooperation in the coming Presidential election. The Democratic party has shown by its action that its determined purpose is to extend Slavery. Its assumptions of Federal power, its official corruption and its profligate expenditure of the public monies are unaparalleled in the history of this government...” Much more. About VG.
