Medal, 2-1/2” copper, 1897, uncirculated presented in a clamshell case. An attractive, well preserved example of this medal which was commissioned by the American Numismatic and Archaeological Society by Tiffany & Co., in conjunction with the dedication of the Grant Memorial in New York City on April 27, 1897. A lovely medal, with design elements that were struck in high relief. On the face, Grant profile with four stars, “General Ulysses S. Grant,’ and on the reverse, “Dedicated New York, April 27, 1897.”
