Book, “Crofutt’s TRANS-CONTINENTAL Tourists’ Guide,” New York. 1871. 215pp. including numerous woodcut illustrations, plus two large folding sheets with plates and maps printed on both sides (one map colored). Nice image of the meeting of “The East and the West” railroads. Original gilt pebbled cloth. Cloth lightly faded. Old tape repairs of a minor sort to one folding table, else an especially nice copy of a book that often evinces heavy use. It describes the route and scenery along the Union and Central Pacific Railroad route from the Mississippi to San Francisco, with a wealth of detail and illustration. Includes biographical sketches of Brigham Young and Leland Stanford. The large maps are of the world, and of the route of the Union Central Railroad.
