Bold Red Silk Ribbon with black printing "M.W.A. / LINCOLN," 6" x 1.5", Choice Very Fine. Unlisted in Sullivan-Fischer. Occasional pinhole, minor typical fraying at ends. As previously unknown, we have found no reference in the major listings. We believe this to be likely a Campaign Ribbon due to the bright red color and bold appearance, likely an item issued for this special purpose locally by a town or organization in support of Lincoln. If this piece were a memorial ribbon, the color red would not have been appropriate to that sad occasion and other text and/or design would have been incorporated. It is what it is, sold "as is" as such, our estimate range being reflective of our lack of definitive research. (Once a proven piece, an estimate of five to ten times this humble amount would certainly be modest.) The first we've seen and extremely rare!
