Booklet, “LETTERS TO ALEXANDER HAMILTON, KING OF THE FEDS. CI- DEVANT SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF THE STANDING ARMIES THEREOF COUNSELLOR AT LAW &c. &c. &c. BEING INTENDED AS A REPLY TO A SCANDALOUS PAMPHLET LATELY PUBLISHED UNDER THE SANCTION, AS IT IS PRESUMED, OF MR. HAMILTON, AND SIGNED WITH THE SIGNATURE OF JUNIUS PHILAENUS,” New York, 1802, 64pp., bookplate on front pastedown. Some light foxing and soiling. Very good. An anti-Federalist political tract, ostensibly from the scathing pen of Tom Callender, who is credited with revealing Hamilton's extra-marital affair and for cursing Jefferson with most of the scandals now associated with the private life of the third president. Although Callender had the financial support of Thomas Jefferson, he turned the tables on his Republican friends and joined the Federalists in 1802.
