DEARBORN, Henry (1751-1829) American military officer and Secretary of War, fought at Bunker Hill, in Arnold’s Quebec expedition, at Wyoming Valley, and in the War of 1812 took Fort George and York with heavy losses. Autograph Letter Signed as Sec. of War, 1p, 4to, December 10, 1802, to General Irvine: "I take the liberty of asking you to deliver the enclosed draught for $1000 to Mr. Sam'l Wheler, blacksmith...Please to deliver my own & Mrs. Dearborn's best respects to Mrs. Irvine & family. Yours sincerely, H. Dearborn." Letter folds, o/w in excellent condition. Comes with a reproduction image suitable for framing together.
