Autograph Letter Signed "Wm. Linnard", one page, octavo, August 5, 1812, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Governor D. Hall, Lewiston, Delaware. From the Quartermaster's Department Linnard writes: "I have shipped to your address in the Pilot Boat Eagle - Captn Holland Six boxes and three tirces containing the articles described in the enclosed Invoice. On their safe arrival, be pleased to favor me with duplicate receipts...I presume you are advised of the purpose for which these Arms & Accouterments are addressed to your care. I apprehend they are for the use of the Militia in case of an attack from the enemy." Some stains and folds, else VG condition.
