A good war-date Confederate army partly-printed pass, 2pp. oblong 12mo., Provost Marshall's office, Lynchburg, Va., Nov. 11, 1864 issued, in part: "By authority of the Secretary of War, permission is granted to A. S. Bacon to visit Richmond upon honor not to communicate in writing or verbally…ant fact ascertained which if known to the enemy might be injurious to the Confederate States of America…". Signed and made official by Capt. and provost marshal H. C. Rivers. VG
