Seventy three (73) complete original issues of Frank Leslies Illustrated Newspaper issued over the first two years of the Civil War. Each issue contains 16 pages and is profusely illustrated with woodcut illustrations. The paper measures 12 by 16 inches. Several "Supplement" issues are included. Each is a complete newspaper by itself and were "bonuses" to coincide with major war events. Leslies are much scarcer than those of Harpers Weekly, their major rival and competitor. Condition is good or better with occasional tears as would be expected (no loss of detail). In a number of respects, Leslies coverage of the war s superior to that of Harpers. All issues have cover and centerfold illustrations (some issues have two centerfold illustrations.
