War of 1812 officer, Governor of Michigan Territory, Secretary of War under Andrew Jackson, U.S. Minister to France, 1836-1842, Presidential candidate in 1848, U.S. Secretary of State, 1857-1860. Autograph Letter Signed "Lew Cass", one page, small octavo, February 14, 1839, Paris, France. This letter to an unknown recipient was written in French by Cass during his assignment in France. The letter carries a red wax seal next to his signature. Fine condition.
