War-date Union soldier's letter, 2pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. George S. Youngs, [POW Harper's Ferry, Va., 9/15/62], Co. G, 126th New York Vols., Centreville, [Va.], Mar. 30, 1863, in part: "…a man belonging to the 111th [N. Y.] was shot on picket last night bye one of their own men by mistake. They are exercising great vigilance now as it is reported again that there is a large rebel force in front about six miles…George S. Youngs" The original stamped transmittal cover is included. VG.
