War-date Union soldier's letter, 3pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. George S. Youngs, [POW Harper's Ferry, Va., 9/15/62], Co. G, 126th New York Vols., "Camp near Culpeper Court House, Va., Oct. 8, 1863," in part: "…we changed our camp again…about twenty rods to a much better hill. It is now regularly laid out in streets. Gen. Owen is very particular to have the camp pitched in the best order…I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Lawrence Bostwick yesterday…he looks as natural as ever tho a little thin. He is engaged in taking the "pictures" of the patriotic countrymen and has an Establishment not far from our camp. If we remain in proximity until after pay day I will send my photograph…I shall gave to get a pair of boots…to be made of heavy calf, double lines…just as father thinks best. Half double rolled. The counters I wish to have made very stiff…George S. Youngs." A bit light, else VG.
