Lot of 5 Victorian silver military medals, 1 1/2" diameter without ribbon. Crimea service medal, 1855. Issued by the Ottoman Empire, this decoration was awarded to allied troops from Britain, France, and Sardinia. The obverse shows the Sultan's tughra while the reverse has the flags of the allied nations amid military trappings. The Russian flag is in the dust beneath all. With ribbon, Fine condition...Plus; Sebastopol medal, ca. 1856. A young Victoria is on the obverse. The reverse shows a Roman soldier crowned by Victory. This medal was issued to Private J. Rose, 79th Regiment. No ribbon, some dings. Toned About VF condition...Plus; Indian Mutiny medal, 1857-1858. The Sepoy Mutiny erupted when native Muslim troops were ordered by their British officers to bite open cartridges lubricated with pork grease. Britannia and the British Lion are on the reverse of this significant medal. Awarded to George Holland, 53rd Regiment. With ribbon, VF condition...Plus; Indian service medal, 1895. The reverse shows an English soldier and a Sikh. Awarded to Sepoy Sadal of the Kyber Rifles. What a provenance! Wow! With hanger, Extremely Fine condition...Plus; South Africa service medal, 1899-1900. The reverse has Britannia overseeing her troops embark on waiting ships. Awarded to Boer War veteran J. Scott, 68th Battery. Toned, Extremely Fine condition.
