Confederate soldier’s letter by “William F. Tanner” who enlisted on 7/19/1861 into "F" Co. GA 16th Infantry and died on 8/31/1863, 1pp. July 24, 1863, Richmond Va, Chimborazo Hospital, VG. Writer uses phonetic spelling corrected for ease of reading, in part “I am detailed to go to Charleston or Georgia to guard some bridge .. I wont have to march .. I will start tomorrow. I will write to you as soon as I get there so you need not be uneasy about me ... I remain your husband till death...”
