Union soldier’s letter written by Ebenezer H. McCall who mustered into "C" Co. OH 80th Infantry and out on 8/13/1865 at Little Rock, AR and signed “Hud”, 3pp., July 23, 1864, Allatona Georgia, to his sister with original cover. In small part, “We feel gloomy this morning ... hearing of the death of Maj. gen. McPherson ... He was certainly one of the ablest Generals in the army. A sight of him is enough to make on love him. ....our troops are occupying one portion of Atlanta and Johnston the other. I hear the boys say McPhearson’s body was brought through on the Cars. What a loss his death will occasion to our arms. The cars were loaded with prisoners. ....” Written the following McPherson’s death. VG.
