Rare Willie Lincoln CDV, Fredericks, New York back imprint. Willie died at the White House on February 20, 1862 at the age of 11 years. Lincoln and his wife were devastated. After Lincoln's assassination Willie's casket was exhumed and brought back to Springfield with Lincoln's body, and interred with his father at Oak Ridge Cemetery. A fine period CDV, originally taken by Mathew Brady. An example with a Brady imprint would command $3,000.00 plus. The image has excellent tone and detail. The "wear" mark above Willie's head is not on the actual albumin, but in the negative that was used. A rare and desirable Lincoln family CDV.
