Darling Style percussion type Pepperbox 6 shot revolver, marked “J.ENGh,” on the frame "Darling Style" referred to the model manufactured in 1839-40 by the brothers Darling of Massachusetts. They patented their revolving model just weeks after Samuel Colt had patented his revolver. This Pepperbox was rotated by hand, and the fact that it had six barrels was distinguished as the "Darling Style."
