Metal engraved plates of various Confederate Stamps which were used in the production of the August Dietz’ book on the subject of Confederate stamps. There are +/- 50 metal plate cuts ranging in size from 4” x 4” down to 1/2” x 3/4”. The vast majority are in multiple images. Certainly a unique collection. August Dietz, Sr. published The Postal Service of the Confederate States of America in 1929. It is the scholarly work referred to by generations of students to this day. In 1931, Dietz published the first actual catalog that bore his name, a small volume of 320 pages that was followed up with a supplement in 1932 of 80 pages.
