Rare James A. Garfield Free Frank Signed as a Congressman James A. Garfield`s franking signature, ``JA Garfield / MC [Member of Congress]`` as an Ohio Congressman. Postmark of ``Washington Free, Oct. 30, 1869” garfield was writing Numismatic and Archeology Society, New York. There is a period note lower left, “I was Treasurer of this society at this time.’
