Anti-Slavery Record, July 1835, 12 pp., 4-1/4” x 6-3/4”, disbound, with a nicely illustrated title page showing a black woman on her knees before a well dressed white man. Below is a brief report of a fugitive slave, Stephen Downing, who was arrested and place in jail under the warrant of his Virginia planter owner. A tragic report of Ohio free black woman, Mary Brown, who was kidnapped and sold at auction at Natchez. Then another report of buying their father.
