A good Grand Army of the Republic photograph of Southbridge, Massachusetts Post 168 (Malcom Ammidon, 34th Mass. POW New Market, DOD Charleston, 10/01/64), ca. 1900, showing twenty members of that post standing next to their unfurled American flag. Gold letter post identification is barely visible, but can be made out. Included in the group are two proud African-American members (the first, first row second from the left. The other second row two fourth from the right) who no doubt fought valiantly with the 54th Massachusetts of Fort Wagner fame. Though possibly they were members of the 55th Mass. Vols. or 5th Mass. Cavalry. The photo measures (9 1/2" x 7" sight) housed in its original oak frame. Also included in the group is a proud naval veteran (in the first row) who wears a GAR ribbon with fowled anchor upon it. Not examined out of the frame. Near fine.
