Two filled out telegram forms, each 8” x 5,” from Gen. Wilmot DeSaussure to Gov. Bonham, datelined Columbia Feb. 19, 1863. The text in full, “French man of war Mulan arrived here and reports all of the enemies fleet to have left Port Royal a fight was going on all this morning near Savannah Genl. Jordan thinks at Genesis Point but had not recd any official intelligence I am desired by Gen. Jordan to beg that as many hands should be at once sent down as practicable.”
