Bronze medal, 2 3/4" diameter, after 1914. Germany's first belligerent move in August, 1914 was the invasion of Belgium. One by one the Belgian forts fell to to the Kaiser's army. Locin, under the command of General Lemon, was taken on August 15 after it was destroyed by a German shell finding its magazine. This medal commemorates the event with General Lemon on the obverse and a fallen soldier on the reverse. A superb example of metallic art on a large flan with perfect aged toning. Very Fine condition.
