War-date Union soldier's letter, 2pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. William P. Roberts, Co. G, 68th Indiana Vols., [DOD 11/02/62], Bardstown, KY, Sept. 1, 1862, in part: "…we have marching orders to go 27 miles further on…we will get into a fite soon…Blackman is dead…Willy Morrer is here now to see whether we will take county orders for our bounty money. I will take a county order and you will get it…drawing 6 per cent interest payable in 16 months…it will do me some good. It will be safer than it will be in any boddys elses hands…Wm. P. Roberts, soldier man." VG
