A good war-date Union soldier's pocket diary carried by Pvt. Hamilton R. Thomson, Co. E, 4th Minnesota Veteran Vols. for the year 1864. This is a leather bound, three day per page, pre-printed style diary which was very popular with soldiers during the war. The book, that measures 3 1/2" x 5 3/4", mainly covers Thomson's time, from April 21st through Nov. 7, 1864, while a patient and on guard duty at Cumberland Hospital in Tennessee with numerous reports of the war throughout and mention of wounded from Atlanta. Then in the memorandum section of the diary Thompson records his experiences during the first three weeks of 1865. Expected wear, else VG
