Stereoview “Professor lowe in his Balloon” showing Professor Thaddeus S. Lowe observing the battle from his balloon "Intrepid" while soldiers in camp hold the balloon's ropes in Fair Oaks, Virginia, moderate focus and contrast. Lowe went on to serve in the Peninsula Campaign of 1862, making observations over Mechanicsville, Virginia, and the ensuing Battle of Seven Pines or Fair Oaks. Part of series: The War for the Union.
