Stereoview “The Thirteen-inch Mortar ‘Dictator’” howing Union soldiers standing beside the mortar on the flat-car made to carry it on General Grant's Military Railroad at Petersburg, Va., strong contrast and sharp focus. Fire from the “Dictator” was very effective. At a range of 3,600 yards, one round was reported as having blown a Confederate field gun and carriage above the parapet of the Confederate works.
