A rare war-date Currier & Ives engraving that is decidedly anti-British in tone, entitled: "A Disloyal British 'Subject', measuring 12 1/2" x 15 1/2", showing a British sailor assuring Britain's John Bull that he is not asking to got fight for the Union, but that is going no matter what! Their conversation is as follows: "John Bull-Now Pat.Mind! If you enlist with either of the Relligerents I shan't protect you if you are taken as a pirate; Pat.-exultingly. Be me sowl thin, I don't want your protechshun, Th'ould Stars and Stripes there that I'm fight'n for will protect me." A broadside behind the sailor reads, "THE UNION FOREVER….Down With Secession. Death To Traitors. Volunteers Wanted For The Navy." Another broadside shows Britain's one sided stance towards America. Published by Currier & Ives, 152 Nassau St, New York. Toned edges, else VG
