Group of seven original Ohio soldier's ballots from the state ELECTION OF 1864. Three printed Union Ticket ballots, one manuscript Union Ticket ballot and three Democratic State Ticket ballots. Two printed ballots with heading "HAMILTON COUNTY OHIO UNION TICKET!" with flag and slogan "Rally round the Flag, Boys." Soldier's ballots cast by members of the 95TH OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY. Ballots were made available to soldiers who were required to sign a poll book but then simply placed their ballot in a box. OHIO STRONGLY SUPPORTED THE NATIONAL UNION (REPUBLICAN) TICKET AND LINCOLN'S RE-ELECTION in the critically important national election of 1864. Most of the candidates listed on the Union ticket were elected to office including Attorney General William Richardson (1824-1866) who served as Colonel of the 25th Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
