JACKSON, Andrew. (1767-1845) Seventh President of the United States 1829-37, unsuccessful candidate in 1824 winning a plurality of votes but losing to John Quincy Adams by House decision, Major General and hero of War of 1812. "Old Hickory" was the first President to ride on a train in 1833, and survived the first attempted assassination of a President in 1835. Document Signed, “Andrew Jackson” as president, 9-3/4 x 15-3/4”, May 22, 1829, on vellum, VG. The pre-printed land grant was filed at Crawfordsville, IN, and grants 80 acres of land to John Caruaguy and Chester Chadwick. Paper seal sill intact and great condition. President Andrew Jackson’s signature is a massive 6” long, still very dark and sharp.
