BELL, Alexander Graham (1847-1922). Inventor of the telephone which revolutionized communications, his later experiments with airflow aided in the construction of better airplanes. His father-in-law co-founded the National Geographic Society, and Bell himself maintained a lively interest in its affairs, saying "the world and all that is in it is our theme." He served as president of the organization from 1898-1903. Typed Letter Signed, “Alexander Graham Bell” 1p. oblong octavo, on his stationary, January 20, 1899, addressed to Mrs. Anna Kent Carruth, and reads “Thank you very much for sending me your march and song dedicated to the 94th Battalion Argyll Highlanders of Cape Breton, received on our return from Japan....” Framed with plaque and image of Bell. Fine.
