Lot of two notes, each 4 3/4" x 11 1/2", August 25, 1917, Petrograd, Russia. Between Czar Nicholas II's abdication on March 15, 1917 and the defining Bolshevik triumph in November of that year, Russia was under a provisional government. These drafts were issued for the Volga-Kama Commercial Bank of Petrograd during the provisional period and are each drawn in London for 5,000 ponds sterling. One document bears a British revenue stamp and both are canceled in Petrograd. A fancy colored engraving on one draft shows an extremely late usage of the double-headed Imperial Russian eagle. VF condition.
